Video Tip #7: Speak Softly In order to capture sound at a distance, most microphones are very sensitive. Therefore, keep your own talking to a minimum and, when you must comment on a scene, speak in a confident voice at a low volume. Also remember those of you using digital format cameras that the sound has no "head room" as does analogue, so if you over expose the sound you will end up with audio full of pops and crackles. Do a sound check and watch your level meter. On analogue tape format you should be looking for about 0db level and on digital tape format about -12db to be on the safe side.
